When there is real repentance, it paves the way for reconciliation. It means that the one who has wronged has accepted forgiveness by seeing that justice is done to the wronged one as far as he or she is able. You steal a toy. You give it back. You steal a spouse – you "…go, and sin no more " (John 8:11) You don't legalize the adultery by getting married, child or no. There is a gulf of difference between 2 very important prepositions here: covering over one's sins in love, which real repentance lays the ground work for and covering up one's sins which does nothing but leave you in your unrepentant sins.
